
Ahmed Ibrahim Abdi is the Chief Executive Officer of the Arid Lands Development Focus (ALDEF, Kenya) and Convener of the ASAL Humanitarian Network (for Local and National agencies) in Kenya. He is a passionate local and global champion of the localisation agenda, devolved climate finance and advocate of a systems approach to predictable shock responsive social protection to enable resilience of disaster prone communities. He has held senior positions with various international organisations and has himself now localised to walk the talk. He has over 30 years of experience in the humanitarian, governance and development sectors.
In addition to responding to various crises in the Horn of Africa region, he convened humanitarian network undertakes advocacy for localisation in Kenya, various LNGGOs, amplifying community voices and working towards a more effective aid and development (nexus) system.
