
Antón Leis has carried out his professional career in International Organisations. He is an international civil servant of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), where he has held different positions in Global Relations and in the Office of the Secretary-General. Prior to his appointment as Director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Antón Leis was Counsellor to the Secretary-General, with the rank of Head of Division. From 2018 to 2020 he was Senior Advisor in the General Secretariat for International Affairs, EU, G20 and Global Security of the Government’s Press Cabinet, coordinating the participation of Spain in the G20 and other multilateral affairs. He was also Advisor in the Secretariat of State for International Cooperation. Prior to that, Antón Leis worked at the African Development Bank as Senior Specialist in governance and private sector development in Tunisia and Côte d’Ivoire. He also worked at the World Bank’s headquarters as Legal Advisor for Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean.
Mr. García holds a Law Degree with an Extraordinary Award from Carlos III University of Madrid, a Master of Laws Degree from Harvard Law School and a dual Master in Public Policy Degree from London School of Economics and Sciences Po. Besides Spanish, he speaks English, French and Portuguese
