Athena Rayburn is Save the Children Afghanistan's Director of Advocacy and Communications. She has been in Afghanistan since January 2021. During her time in Afghanistan, Athena's advocacy has focused on securing exemptions under various sanctions and CT legislation and advocating for children, in particular girls, access to education. She is based in Kabul but has spent time in the north and south of the Afghanistan with SCI programmes. Prior to this Athena spent two years in Cox's Bazar leading SCI's advocacy on the Rohingya response.
