
Since 2017, Claude Maon is a legal manager for Médecins Sans Frontières Intersectional Legal Department on issues related to International Humanitarian Law, protection of patient’s victims of violence and medico-legal responsibilities. She recently became Legal Director of the same Department at the beginning of 2022.
Prior to joining MSF, she worked several years as an Attorney at the Brussels Bar and as a Project Specialist on access to justice and fight against impunity on the field for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as well as for Avocats Sans Frontières - Lawyers without Borders (ASF), mainly in Africa.She also worked as a protection officer with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva and supported missions on the field. She undertook numerous consultancies and project management in the area of justice support and fight against impunity, both for the UN system and justice INGOs community.
Claude Maon holds a Master's degree in Law and a Master's degree in International Humanitarian Aid (NOHA) from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) – Belgium. She also holds a certificate in Criminalistics Science and medico-legal Psychiatry from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
She is a member of the Board of Lawyers without Borders (Avocats Sans Frontières).
