
Dries Goeminne has a Master’s degree in Political Sciences with a major in not-for-profit management, and worked in the Red Cross Movement for 17 years. Dries started as a Project Manager for the Flemish section of the Belgian Red Cross in Rwanda and moved on to be Country Representative in Rwanda, Burundi and Nepal. After a few years as Regional Representative for Southern Africa, Dries then became Head of Operations and finally Head of Expertise and Partnerships at the Belgian Red Cross. In April 2021, he joined the Finnish Red Cross. He has extensive experience in the sectoral areas Health, Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Response, and has been a strong advocate and architect of the merger of humanitarian and developmental assistance within his previous organisation, bringing the nexus into practice.
In his current position, Mr. Goeminne oversees the Finnish Red Cross operations and partnerships in West and Francophone Africa, including the cooperation with ICRC on the Safer Access Framework in Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.
