Fatima is a 17-year-old young leader supported by World Vision who is focused on raising her voice to highlight the importance of quality education for all.
As a Syrian refugee living in a refugee camp in Jordan, Fatima has seen how conflict and forced migration has impacted the access to education to her and her community. She has also experienced how COVID-19 has negatively influenced the situation of children in her community by reducing their access to education, social and literacy skill which led to increasing the risks of child marriage, especially for girls, and child labour.
Building on her extensive experience and knowledge, Fatima will be focused on providing recommendations for how the EU and relevant stakeholder can support Education in Emergencies. In particular, she will highlight challenges in access to digital education, economic barriers experienced by the community due to lack of appropriate implementing educational and social measurements and the issue of child marriage.
Fatima is a young leader participating at the European Humanitarian Forum through the support of World Vision. Read more about World Vision's Child participation and safeguarding principles here.
