
For more than 15 years, Fatumo Farah has been working at HIRDA, which is a pioneer of diaspora organsations in Europe, in different positions from volunteering up to the director of the organization. She has led, established and fundraised for diverse successful projects amongst the organisation’s intervention areas. Fatumo has been lobbying and advocating Diaspora contribution to the development of home countries and better integration of migrants and refugees. She co-founded the diaspora for development platform in the Netherlands in 2007, SOMNGO in 2008 and the Global Somali diaspora in 2014. She has contributed for years to the GFMD civil society days and the formation of global compact at the UN in 2017. Fatumo was the co-chair of GFMD civil society days in 2015 in Istanbul and still member of GFMD civil society committee.
Before Ms. Farah joined HIRDA, she worked in the private sector as an assistant accountant at KPMG. She holds a MA degree of business administration of the Vrije University of Amsterdam and won the 'migrant idea' in 2006.
