
Gemma Sanmartin holds a university degree in corporate communication, specialized in internal communication, public relations and advertisement. She has over 25 years of experience in complex emergencies, early recovery and development contexts, 18 years as INGO staff and the last nine years as Humanitarian Affairs Officer with OCHA. She has extended experience in analysis of the humanitarian context; emergency response preparedness, including coordinated assessments and contingency planning; and technical and policy development in South and Central America, Africa, Middle East and Pacific regions.
Ms. Sanmartin is currently Deputy Head of Office for OCHA in Libya, based on Tripoli.
