
Dr. Iftikher Mahmood established HOPE Foundation for Women & Children of Bangladesh as a charitable organization in the State of Florida, USA. The mission of HOPE Foundation is to provide healthcare to the poorest and economically marginalized mothers and children in Bangladesh. HOPE Foundation continues its efforts to address maternal health challenges and to reduce preventable maternal and newborn death.
In 2017, during the massive influx of Rohingya refugees to Cox’s Bazar, Dr. Mahmood mobilized huge resources to aid the refugees with healthcare. Under his leadership, HOPE Foundation established several women’s health centers and a field hospital for women, the only hospital that focuses on maternal care inside the refugee camps. Dr. Mahmood has received many awards and has been honored to speak at many notable events, including Harvard University and the United Nations Commission on Status of Women. He is an adjunct professor at College of Public Health, University of Nebraska, also he holds faculty position in Tufts University Medical College in Boston, USA
