
Keumala Dewi has ten years of experiences in the non-profit sector, and earned a bachelor degree in Social and Politics in North Sumatra Islamic University, Indonesia. She is the Executive Director of PKPA Indonesia Foundation/Centre of Child Study and Protection in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Before, she worked as M&E Division Coordinator at PKPA focusing on program planning, monitoring and evaluation and designing the program of child protection to develop with cultural relevant methods.
At PKPA, Ms. Dewi is focusing on implementing programs with the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia as well as with the Ministry for Women Empowerment and Child Protection on preventing human trafficking and child exploitation. PKPA is offering support to victims of trafficking and exploitation through legal support and reintegration. She has contributed to the formulation of the Child Right and Business Principle’s toolkit for the Palm Oil Sector.
Ms. Dewi is also a national trainer for child save organizations and trained at least 50 local and national organizations to develop child protection policies and procedures. She developed several guidelines for teachers in rural and sub-urban areas to develop interactive education about health reproduction for youth and teenagers as well as child right promotion guidelines by religion leaders. She has experience in leading emergency responses in several provinces in Indonesia such as to the earthquake in Aceh, Central Sulawesi and West Sulawesi.
