
Paraskevi Michou is the Director-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) of the European Commission since 2020. Previously, she held the positions of Director-General for Migration and Home Affairs (HOME), Deputy Secretary-General in charge of Institutional and Administrative Policies, Smart Regulation and Work Programme, Acting Director-General for Justice and Consumers (JUST). She held several high positions within the European Commission.
After completing her studies, Ms. Michou initially held various positions in private and public institutions in Greece, in particular in the Greek Ministry of Commerce. In 1992, she joined the European Commission and worked in the Directorates-General for Justice and Consumers (JUST), Enterprise, Internal Market and Information Society, Information Society and Media Directorate-General (CNECT) and for Internal Market and Financial Services (FISMA). She holds a degree in Economics and Law from Athens University and a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Imperial College London.
