Since November 2019, Renet van der Waals is coordinator for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in crisis situations in the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before this, she was head of the Health and Aids Division at the same Ministry and from 2004 to 2014 she held the position of Deputy Head of Mission at the Netherlands Embassies in Tanzania, Burkina Faso and Afghanistan
