In 2002, Runa Khan founded Friendship, an International Social Purpose Organisation. Friendship works for the most vulnerable, inaccessible, climate impacted communities towards Saving Lives, Poverty Alleviation, Climate Adaptation and Empowerment, pioneering the first ship hospitals in South Asia. Seven million people annually access Friendship services. She is a Board / Advisory member of various International Committees, including Global Dignity, British Asian Trust Bd, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bd, Honorary President of One Sustainable Health Forum, Grand Jury Member of Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity. She has delivered lectures worldwide in Development platforms, including at the UN, Climate Forums, and across universities.
Ms. Khan authored eight children’s books, as an advocate of climate change, human rights, women empowerment, leadership & nurturing human values. She has received numerous awards including the Rolex Award for Entrepreneurship, the Ashoka fellowship, the Schwab Social Entrepreneurship Award.
